Summer has
ended and the threat of shorts, revealing tops and bikinis has been removed for
another year. Halloween treats have lined the supermarket shelves for weeks now
and we are craving stodgy comfort food to keep us warm as the chilly weather
sets in. So naturally we have noticed our jeans are feeling a bit tighter and
our belts going out a notch (or two!) However, you don’t need to succumb to the
inevitable weight gain of winter. Little changes in your lifestyle could make
all the difference- without leaving you feeling hungry and deprived! Here are
three easy ways to fight that winter flab!
Eat Breakfast
It was reported
by the BBC recently that breakfast really could be the most important meal of
the day when trying to avoid fattening foods. Scans of 21 people showed the
brain was more attracted to food if breakfast was missed so people had more
food at lunch. Scientists said it made losing weight challenging as missing
meals made calorific food even more appealing. So by eating a healthy breakfast
every day we lessen the appeal of waist-band-busting snacks later on in the
day!
Increase your
levels of activity
By increasing
your activity by just a small amount in your everyday life you will see the
pounds drop off! Get off at a slightly further away bus stop, take the stairs
instead of the lift and go for a walk around the local park in your lunch break
with a colleague instead of gossiping on a park bench.
If
you need a bit more motivation to keep track of all of the positive changes
that you are making, perhaps you should consider investing in a health tracker
such as the Fitbit Ultra Wireless Tracker.
The
Fitbit Ultra monitors your activity all day to provide you with real-time
feedback on steps, distance, calories burned, and stairs climbed to encourage
you to walk more and be more active. It wirelessly uploads your data to
Fitbit.com so you can gain deeper insight into your daily or monthly fitness
and sleep levels with free online graphs and charts. On Fitbit.com, you can earn
fitness badges, connect with friends to share and compete on fitness goals, or
join the Fitbit community for advice and encouragement. So you can get fit- one
step at a time!
Drink
plenty of water
Studies
have shown that often when we think we are hungry we are actually feeling
thirsty. By drinking plenty of water or herbal teas you will not only find your
cravings subsiding but you will notice a difference in your hair, skin and
nails and feel more hydrated and full of energy!
