Get fit - one step at a time!

You were inspired by the Olympics this Summer to start a new fitness regime and it started off so well; you were running before work and getting to the gym at least three nights a week. But once the bunting was down and the autumn rain set in you lost momentum.

There is no need to feel guilty and as any personal trainer or health professional will tell you, it is best to make small changes to your everyday routine - that will eventually add up to big changes in your health!

Try to increase your number of steps per day; park further away from your office, walk your kids to school or get off the bus a stop earlier. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator or lift will make a big difference too!

If you need a bit more motivation to keep track of all of the positive changes that you are making, perhaps you should consider investing in a health tracker such as the Fitbit Ultra WirelessTracker.

The Fitbit Ultra monitors your activity all day to provide you with real-time feedback on steps, distance, calories burned, and stairs climbed to encourage you to walk more and be more active. It wirelessly uploads your data to Fitbit.com so you can gain deeper insight into your daily or monthly fitness and sleep levels with free online graphs and charts. On Fitbit.com, you can earn fitness badges, connect with friends to share and compete on fitness goals, or join the Fitbit community for advice and encouragement. So you can get fit- one step at a time!

Three rainy day activities for all the family

Summer is a distant memory and the rain has begun with little sign of letting up until Spring. So what is there to do on a rainy day that doesn’t involve sitting in front of the television in silence until it is time for bed? Well, here are three ideas that will keep even the moodiest of teenagers and most hyperactive children (not to mention the adults) from getting cabin fever during these long wet months.

Appquiz turns your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad into a fully interactive quiz machine, with mini games and 1000s of different questions!

The appquiz is the most advanced interactive quiz game ever created. Download the free quiz game and meet your charismatic quiz show host – Chuck Boldhart!

Go head to head with 2-4 players; Keep the game fresh and download new game content and quiz packs.

The Sphero is a Bluetooth controlled robotic ball. It has an amazing 50 foot + range and can reach phenomenal speeds of up to 3 feet per second! It has a Internal guidance system that allows you to have complete control once you have mastered it.
Work together as a family to build an obstacle course out of household items, get the kids to design starting flags and take it in turns to maneuver the clever little ball around the course while timing it. The person with the fastest lap wins!

Appsing turns your smartphone into a portable karaoke machine. Take it in turns to bust out your favourite tunes and maybe even throw in a couple of duets. You and your family will be harmonizing like the Von Trapps in no time!

Achieving your career dreams with a little help from your smartphone

-->
It is Monday morning and you are sat behind your desk wondering whatever happened to that dream that you once had of being a world famous astronaut/ballerina/big brother celebrity? You had the ambition and raw talent- Whatever went wrong?

Well if there is one thing that the tabloids teach us, it is that it is never too late to reach for the stars and achieve the seemingly impossible! Susan Boyle would vouch for that!

So if you are ready to make a change, here are three exhilarating new career options and how you can use your smartphone to help you achieve your wildest dreams…

Popstar

Your mum said that you had a lovely voice once. Why have you never utilized your talent? With singing talent shows saturating our TV viewing there are plenty of opportunities for budding stars. Get some practice in with Appsing. This brilliant device transforms your phone or media device into a karaoke machine- just follow the words on the screen and sing into the built in mic. And the best thing is that it is fully portable so you will never miss out on an opportunity to show off your vocal abilities- you never know when you might bump into Simon Cowell!

 Elite athlete

If, like so many others in this country, you were inspired by the Olympics this summer, this could be looking like a great option to you. Why not start off slowly though- you wouldn’t want to pull a muscle! The Fitbit Ultra Wireless Activity Tracker monitors your activity throughout the day and provides you with feedback on steps, distance, calories burned and stairs climbed. It wirelessly uploads your data to fitbit.com so that you can gain a deeper insight into your regular fitness and sleep levels with free graphs and charts. On Fitbit.com, you can earn fitness badges, connect with friends to share and compete on fitness goals, or join the Fitbit community for advice and encouragement. So put on your running shoes and get competitive!

Racing car driver

You consider yourself an‘adrenaline junkie’ (last week you got that massive spider out of the bath with your bare hands!) and hurtling around a course in a multi-million-pound supercar really appeals to you. Now, we wouldn’t recommend that you practice in a real car, so here are a couple of ways you could use your smartphone to get some training in…

The appRacer, an off road buggy style remote control car that turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into the most intuitive RC device ever or the AppDrive that turns your smartphone or media device into the ultimate driving experience! Load up one of the compatible downloadable apps for a real racing feel!

As Usain Bolt has announced that he intends to defend his Olympic 100m and 200m sprint titles at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, across the world in Finland, training has began for a slightly more unusual sport… Phone-tossing.

Parity News reports that Finnish citizen Ere Karjalainen smashed the world record for phone-tossing this August when he threw his handset 101.5 meters (333 feet) during his country’s annual mobile phone-throwing contest. It is not known yet whether he will return next year to defend his title, but if you fancy a shot at beating his astounding record you had better start getting your throwing arm in shape!

However, if you are not quite ready to see how far you can chuck the phone you queued overnight in the pouring rain to get your hands on, then here are five more fun ways to use your smart phone….

The Sphero is a bluetooth controlled robotic ball. It has an amazing 50 foot + range and can reach phenomenal speeds of up to 3 feet per second!
